I have worked on a few projects (mostly in high school), like TJHSST CubeSat, but I signed NDAs, so I can only give general details.

CubeSat (called TJREVERB) was designed as the first nongovernmental use of the Iridium Satellite Network. We wanted to test different radio protocols, including Automated Packet Reporting System (APRS), to see how well each system could respond to the harsh space environment.
